Conducting your caravans insurance review
There may be any number of reasons why you might be thinking about reconsidering your insurance position.
Perhaps you are considering a caravans insurance review with the help of an experienced insurance provider such as Cover4Caravans or you might possibly be considering doing one entirely under your own steam.
If the latter is the case, you might find some help in the following ideas about how to go about it:
- put some time to one side and take it seriously. This is old advice but it remains valid – you are unlikely to do justice to reviewing other options for your cover if you are trying to squeeze the review into a few spare minutes here and there;
- think about your current caravanning position. Things change in the way we use our caravans and sometimes that can happen slowly and without us noticing. In order to check the validity of quotations, you will need to be clear about how you plan to use your caravan in future;
- look around at a wide variety of options and quotations. You would probably do that automatically when purchasing anything from a new pair of shoes to a television, so an insurance policy should be no different;
- make the effort to look not only at the price of a quotation but also the detail of the policy it refers to. Contrary to what you might believe, policies may differ widely in the cover they provide and it’s not sensible to leave a consideration of that until such time as you are in the position of needing to make a claim;
- avoid the mistake of assuming that the cheapest is going to be the best. Even if your policy was entirely free, you won’t take any pleasure in that if you find that it doesn’t cover something you need it to in the event of a problem;
- research the provider. Testimonials on their website might be of some use but they might not be entirely impartial either. Therefore, do some basic net searches on the provider through independent sources, to try and find out about things such as their customer service ethos and so on;
- compare the terms and conditions of competing policies. If the thought of doing so strikes you as being something of a nightmare, remember that the Ts and Cs may make the difference between you being able to successfully claim or not.
Of course, it might be the case that you are keen to review things such as the cost-effectiveness and cover suitability of a policy but don’t like the thought of needing to spend hours doing so yourself on a quotation by quotation basis.
If that’s the case, it might be advisable to consult that specialist provider at the outset!
