Get that dream holiday without breaking the bank /get-that-dream-holiday-without-breaking-the-bank/ /get-that-dream-holiday-without-breaking-the-bank/#comments Wed, 01 Jun 2011 10:00:40 +0000 admin /?p=237 moneyIf you need a break, there’s a way to shop cleverly so that you can enjoy a well-earned holiday without spending all of your hard-earned cash.

If you’re partial to a package, cashback site Quidco has plenty of Virgin Holiday deals including a 2 for 1 offer at selected Sandals resorts.  Valid on bookings made before 31 May, there’s also a 5% discount for purchasing online. So, an £800.00 break would be reduced to £400.00, and the 5% discount reduces the cost further to £380.00.

There are loads of other handy travel deals around too, including these gems:

  • You can currently earn cashback on the travel deals on SecretSales, on top of their already-discounted offers. These change regularly and sell out fast, so check Quidco daily for new offers.
  • For something less far flung, Brittany Ferries Holidays has savings of up to 25% on their French cottage holidays, plus 7% cashback. The deals include ferry travel, and cottages are in some of the most popular French holiday destinations.
  • Expedia also has a wide range of holiday offers for all tastes and budgets, including different ‘deals of the day’, discounts and 5% cashback.

If you don’t mind doing a bit more research, you can make great savings by booking your travel and accommodation separately. There are some excellent hotel offers available right now. For example:

  • At lastminute.com there’s up to 40% discount on Hilton Hotels right now, plus 12% cashback. These usually get snapped up pronto, so get in there quick if you’re looking for high-end hotels at approximately half price.
  • Hotels.com is offering an increased rate of 10% cashback, which you can combine with special offers. Try their ‘dealfinder’ feature to snap up a bargain.
  • Quidco favourite hotels4u has some of the best room rates around, and are offering an exclusive cashback rate of 6%.
  • The Doyle Collection of luxury hotels have increased their cashback to 9%.

You can also always find a broad range of cashback deals on Quidco if you’re looking for car hire and cover. Here are a couple of current special offers:

  • Holiday Autos are offering up to 25% off car hire in Portugal, plus 10% cashback for bookings made before 22 May.
  • If you’re holidaying in the UK and driving to your destination, don’t forget to make sure your breakdown cover’s up to date. RAC have a free recovery offer, plus up to 15% cashback until the end of May.

Enjoy your trip!

Have You Ever Used Quidco To Save Money? /have-you-ever-used-quidco-to-save-money/ /have-you-ever-used-quidco-to-save-money/#comments Tue, 17 May 2011 09:00:04 +0000 admin /?p=193 Considering cashback with every purchase could earn your family £1,155 cashback per year on utilities, phones and insurance

It’s common knowledge that savings can be made on food and clothing by using vouchers and cashback sites.  However, less well known is the fact that the mediocre things such as renewing insurance, sorting a phone contract and getting the cheapest utilities provider on board can also earn you a bundle.  A couple with two children should earn over £1,100 a year in fact.

Assuming the average family has four mobile phones, owns two cars, and requires home insurance, life insurance, pet insurance, utilities, broadband and tv, they should earn £1,155 in a year if all is purchased via cashback site Quidco.

  • Mobile phone: 4x £130 with Vodafone = £520
  • Car insurance: 2x £75 RAC = £150
  • Home insurance: £75 RAC
  • Life insurance: 2x £75 Adviser Financial = £150
  • Pet insurance: £50 Sainsbury’s
  • Utilities: £80 npower
  • Broadband, phone and tv: £130 O2

Total = £1,155.

You don’t have to go shopping and spend money to take advantage of a discount or cashback offer.  Every household needs insurance, utilities, phone and TV and by reviewing your providers each year on Quidco.com, you could end up with an extra £1,100 in your bank account.

Instead of going directly to a retailer’s website, visit http://www.quidco.comand look for the retailer there.  For each merchant, all of the cashback offers and voucher codes available are displayed and by selecting one, you are then taken to the retailer’s website to shop as normal.

Because the merchant sees that you have bought something after clicking through from a cashback site, it pays them a commission which they pass on to you as cashback.  Users can also benefit from instant discounts using voucher codes and printable vouchers for use in stores.
